The Australian Guidelines for the Treatment of Acute Stress Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder provide information about the most effective treatments for PTSD.
Approved by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), the Guidelines were developed in 2013 by Phoenix Australia (formerly Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health) and a team of Australia’s leading trauma experts, in collaboration with representatives of the professional associations for psychiatrists, psychologists, general practitioners, social workers, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, school counsellors, and service users.
Recommendations are based on best practice evidence found through a systematic review of the Australian and international trauma literature.More information about the Guidelines, including information for practitioners on diagnosis, screening, assessment and treatment is available from the Phoenix Australia website (https://www.phoenixaustralia.org/australian-guidelines-for-ptsd/). The full Guidelines, a summary document, as well as a range of other products for practitioners and members of the general public can be downloaded or purchased from the Phoenix Australia website.
